PROGRAM OVERVIEW
A Balanced Approach to Sports.
Athletics at Gaynor include physical education, after school programs, and interscholastic competition. Each component is designed to support skill development, collaboration, and personal responsibility through movement. The sections below highlight how athletics evolve across divisions and programs.
Physical Education at Stephen Gaynor School
The Physical Education program at Stephen Gaynor School introduces students to a wide range of team and recreational sports that build both physical skills and personal confidence. Lessons focus on developing fundamental movement, spatial awareness, coordination, strength, flexibility, and body control, while also reinforcing cooperation, respect, and goal setting.
In the Primary Division, physical education emphasizes joyful movement and motor development through play and exploration. As students progress into the Lower, Intermediate, and Upper Divisions, activities become more complex and challenging, ranging from obstacle courses and trust exercises to team sports such as soccer and softball. Across all levels, physical education supports students in becoming healthy, confident, and collaborative learners.
After School & Interscholastic Athletics — Go Gators!
Gaynor’s Athletic Program extends learning beyond the classroom, offering students meaningful opportunities to grow as teammates, leaders, and competitors. Through sportsmanship, responsibility, and perseverance, students develop the habits and skills that support success both on and off the field. Our athletic study halls help student-athletes build time-management and organization skills before each practice.
The After School Athletics Program includes non-competitive offerings such as dance, soccer, flag football, floor hockey, Zumba, lacrosse, wiffleball, tennis, and general fitness—giving students opportunities to stay active, try new activities, and have fun.
Gaynor is a full-time member of the American International Private School League (AIPSL) and offers the following interscholastic teams, which give students the opportunity to compete, collaborate, and represent their school with pride.
